I've been trying a few things to get the desktop client working in WPF. I've been using the tests to see what references are required, and so forth. At the moment, all I want is to make it compile.
So far I can create a .net class library (not silverlight) which includes a DomainContext class which will compile. However, as soon as I reference it in my WPF project and try to instanciate the context I get an error. The error says something like "System.Windows is not referenced, version 188.8.131.52 required".
This seems to me to be a silverlight version it is requesting? Or perhaps a portable version? Obviously it can't be the Silverlight version, but then I'm not sure how the desktop version works yet...
So is there an simple example of this working or am I barking up the wrong tree?
I asked Daniel, the developer who was working on this, to reply to your original thread yesterday. He was probably asleep at the time so I don't know when he received the email and when he could try to get back to you. I was working on trying his changes and putting together a test but then a new issue came in where the tooling isn't working with newer NuGet releases of Entity Framework and I had to switch over to figuring out a solution for that.
Sleeping solves a multitude of problems, so I can't begrudge the man :) Do think of my posting as pestering, I'll keep battering away at it when I get time, and I'll post any logical questions/errors, etc and hopefully it will provide a useful Google trail for others in the future :)
Well, I solved the reference issue. First I added a WPF project to the RIA services project, then added project references. It seems the problem occurs where you try to have a portable library in the mix somewhere.
New issue. For code generation, Open RIA only seems to fire and generate the context if OpenRiaServices.Data.DomainServices is referenced. This is a Silverlight only dll, and there's no desktop equivalent.
What (nugget) versions are you using?
Have you looked into the latest versions and the example project I posted at your other thread http://www.openriaservices.net/MonoX/Pages/SocialNetworking/Discussion/dtopic/bSv_L0yna0Gs4KMbAYMyOg/WPF-client/ . There you have a portable library + desktop client with working code gen (if I remember correctly)
My apologies for not replying sooner, I've been abroad, I will take a look at this, this weekend and let you know. Fingers crossed!!
